I published my book

I’ve gotten away from general blog posts as I’ve been preparing a host of behind the scenes material about my book.

I pressed publish over the past 2 weeks. Firstly I published the digital copy with little fanfare. Then I finished off formatting and prepping the print copy. Then I wanted to make sure everything was ‘right’, wanted to get some ducks in order regarding marketing. Then I realised that I should just get on with it, that marketing a book isn’t a one day blitz but probably a months long marathon. I did it and it’s been a big relief.

It’s also been incredibly exciting - I’ve had my first reviews, largely from friends but when the first one came in from a stranger, from someone who’d joined my email list, read the sample and bought the finished article, I felt a wave off intense joy that someone had engaged with what I had to say.

I still feel the urge to overdo things, to coordinate and look professional, to be organised. The truth is that maybe I’m not those things. Maybe I should ‘lean in’, an amusing phrase, to what makes me different. So far, my difference has helped me stand out.

I’ll talk more about this in due course but thanks to anyone who’s already bought the book. If you haven’t then go ahead and get it here. When you’ve read it, leave a review or shoot me an email. I’d love to hear what you have to say.
